Nottoway Supervisors to consider zoning change to allow residential use of cottage
A very quick look at what's happening today in the 7th-smallest locality in the Fifth District
The Nottoway County Board of Supervisors usually meets the third Thursday of the month. In the 16 months of this newsletter, I admit I’ve not prioritized this southside community and this particular morning I find myself out of time to do a thorough job. There’s a lot of material in here, but I’ve got to get on the road for a trip to Lynchburg.
So, let’s just get right into a very brief summary followed by some articles from other places across the Fifth District.
Meeting begins at 7 p.m. tonight
The five members of the Nottoway Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. in the Nottoway County General District Courtroom. That’s at 328 W. Courthouse Road in Nottoway. (agenda packet)
The meeting begins with a call to order, the invocation, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the approval of the agenda. Then approval of minutes followed by “Delegations from the Public.”
There are two public hearings.
The first is a rezoning for a 2.4 acre lot with split zoning between General Business and Rural Residential. The property owners want to live in the existing house but need a rezoning to satisfy a requirement from their lender in case the home is destroyed by natural disaster. (page 9)
The second is a school budget amendment. (page 26)
Then there will be presentations, followed by department reports. There is a lot of detail in here worth reviewing!
That’s followed by reports from constitutional officers.
Under unfinished business, there will be an update on the animal shelter.
There are a lot of items under new business.
That’s followed by the consent agenda.
Then there will be informational items followed by the report from
County Administrator Ted CostinActing County Administrator Philip Vannoorbeeck followed by comments from members of the Board. Vannoorbeeck was appointed the position in August following the departure of Ted Costin. Learn more in the Courier-Record.
This meeting ends with a closed meeting for personnel matters.
