Lynchburg City Council to hear from registrar, go into closed session
Perhaps the shortest edition of the newsletter yet, but just you wait!
Just a very short edition today. Another one tomorrow on Hanover County. It may also be brief.
The Lynchburg City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight in City Council Chambers for a special meeting with two items which may or may not be related. (meeting info)
First, newly appointed Registrar Daniel Pense will give a presentation. This is not in the packet. According to a June 2 Cardinal News article by Tobi Laukatis, Pense was hired when the Republican majority on the three-person Lynchburg Electoral Board declined to reappoint Christine Gibbons when her term expired at the end of June.
Here’s another story on the replacement from Bryson Gordon of the Lynchburg News & Advance. Gordon has a preview of tonight’s meeting in which he reports that Pense is concerned about not having deputy registrars a month before early voting is set to begin.
After Pense’s presentation, a closed session will be held “to receive legal advice and information concerning employment matters connected to a City Department.”
