January 15, 2024: Another message from the editor and publisher invoking the hiatus
A reminder the main bulk of this work is on pause
Dear Readers,
I had hoped to get back into this work this week at the new year, but I will have to keep the hiatus in effect for a little while longer. I am within site distance of 3,000 subscribers on Charlottesville Community Engagement and about a quarter of that number are paying me money. That means I am focusing my time and effort on that newsletter and no longer have the time to devote to this newsletter.
This is due one hundred percent to my parents no longer living in the Lynchburg area. This edition was created to support a life in which I moved there to help support them, but that eventuality did not come into existence in this universe. I have not been south of Plank Road on U.S. 29 since at least September. I’ve been north of the Mason Dixon Line four times since then.
But, I am going to keep thinking about this newsletter and am open to accepting volunteers who might want to work on this. One thought still remains to find an intern who would like to learn the ropes of research and how to assemble bridges to stable and sustainable information production without resorting to artificial intelligence.
For now, the content is going to consist entirely of links to other works. That’s far from what I want to do, but it’s all I can manage for now.
